There are currently over 10 thousand coffee shop and cafe chains that are offering free Wi-Fi high speed access while you enjoy a cup of joe and some pastries. Although some places still require you to have a subscription wireless service such as Starbucks (T-Mobile), many more coffee shops, cafes and bakeries have started offering open access in the last few years. Some coffee shops and cafes require a purchase to get free WiFi. However most do not, but it is almost implied that you will be making some form of purchase when you are sitting down enjoying free access.

Atlanta Bread Company - Atlanta Bread Company is a bakery cafe that serves a variety of made-to-order sandwiches and salads, a selection of hearty soups, bagels, hot breakfast sandwiches, breads, pastries and desserts all featuring unique, signature flavors. The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf began offering "totally free" Wi-Fi Internet access at virtually all company-owned stores. The company started installing the Wi-Fi units in July 2008 and many stores had the wireless service by the end of August 2008. The service is totally free and does not require an online account or use a credit card.
